Pilates works on bringing your body back to an ideal posture so that you stop the ‘wear and tear’ on the joints in your body.  As your body corrects itself you should feel stronger, look leaner, more toned and your aches and pains should disappear.  Pilates works your muscles from the inside out.  An hour of Pilates delivered properly is a ‘whole and balanced’ workout.

We offer ‘new starter packs’ for private appointments, semi-private appointments and classes for you to choose from.

All ‘new starter packs’ begin with an initial consultation which includes reviewing your goals, discussing any pain, restriction or health condition you are currently dealing with, then we carry out a postural assessment and movement screen of your body.

PRIVATE PILATES SESSIONS

A Pilates private session is a one hour Pilates session involving one client to one instructor.

Private Pilates sessions generally involve a combination of mat based exercises and the use of the Pilates machines to meet your goals, address any pain or injury and most importantly to address any postural deviations in your body and, let’s face it, we all have postural deviations whether we are in pain now or not.

We recommend Pilates private sessions when you require a higher level of supervision from an instructor due to certain health conditions or restrictions you are dealing with. Or maybe you want the most flexible times when attending your sessions at the studio.

SEMI-PRIVATE PILATES SESSIONS

A Pilates semi-private session entails one instructor supervising up to 3-4 clients who are working on their own tailored program.

Your semi-private sessions begin once you’ve attended your initial consultation and then have a follow-up private session to make sure you understand your beginner program before entering into a small group.

These sessions also generally involve a combination of mat based exercises and the use of the Pilates machines to meet your goals, address any pain or injury and most importantly address any postural deviations in your body.

Semi-private sessions are great for those who need more tailored Pilates without the expense of private lessons and for those of you who have a certain health conditions or restrictions you may be dealing with.

PILATES MAT CLASSES

A Pilates mat class involves doing a whole-body workout on a mat.  Pilates mat classes are designed for the general population and are only suitable if you do not have any injuries or special health conditions.

Often, we will incorporate small apparatus into the class for extra challenge, support or variety.  Small apparatus includes stability balls, dumbbells, resistance bands, fit balls, foam rollers, magic circles, ankle weights, Oov’s and more.

No Pilates machines are used in a Pilates mat class and there is a maximum of 8 participants in each class.

All classes are graded therefore you should be attending a class suited to the level you are currently at in Pilates:

For Beginner level Pilates mat, no prior experience necessary

For Basic level Pilates mat, you must have completed the ‘Class new starter pack’ or the ‘Pilates semi-private new starter pack’

For Intermediate Pilates, a minimum of 1 year’s regular attendance of basic level Pilates mat

For Advanced Pilates, a minimum of 2 year’s regular attendance of Intermediate level Pilates mat

These classes are not suitable if you are in pain or injured or have certain medical conditions. We offer private and semi-private Pilates sessions instead.

PILATES MACHINE CLASSES

Featuring the Pilates Reformer, Wunda Chair, Cadillac and the High Barrel.

The machine classes have a limit of 6 people and you will still get a whole-body workout just like in any other Pilates class or session at the studio.

You must also have some prior knowledge of the machines before attending these classes or you start with our ‘Pilates semi-private new starter pack’ first.

This class is not suitable if you are in pain or have certain injuries/health conditions. We offer private and semi-private Pilates sessions instead.

BARRE ATTACK

Barre Attack classes are a dynamic fusion of Pilates, Ballet and Fitness.  It’s an all body work-out using the classic Ballet Barre that attacks those dreaded problem areas — legs, butt, thighs and arms.

So how does it work?

Classes at the studio go for 1 hour.  You don’t need to bring any special equipment and don’t need any experience. Many clients simply wear normal gym or workout attire, grip socks and bring a towel and water.  To find out more of an overview of what you might get from a typical class, go to: barreattack.com

No prerequisites for this class except it does help to have some Pilates knowledge, an appreciation of how to set up good posture and some dance background.

STRETCH & RELEASE CLASSES

We just don’t devote enough of our week to stretching and de-stressing.  Most of you will do 5 minutes at the end of a class or session and it just isn’t enough as we age.

Stretching dramatically reduces the risk of injury whilst participating in other sports and activities.  How many of you cannot touch your toes or wake up in the morning feeling stiff and sore?

These classes are designed to stretch and release those commonly tight areas of your body using a combination of foam rollers, Yamuna balls, bands, spiky balls, Oov’s and just holding various poses. The goal is to stretch your entire body within the hour.  We focus on the use of breath to help your mind and body relax into the stretching.

Benefits of regular stretching include injury prevention or minimisation, improvement of range of motion, release of tension, improvement in sleep and posture as well as reducing the wear and tear on your body as you age.

There are no pre-requisites for this class however this class will not suitable if you are in pain or injured or have certain medical conditions. We offer private and semi-private Pilates sessions instead.

PERSONAL TRAINING

Personal Training is one-on-one training with an instructor to work towards your own health and fitness goals, taking into consideration any injuries or medical conditions you may be dealing with.

Your goals may be to lose body fat, to get out of pain, to deal with a health problem or to train for a specific sports event. We can also cover off nutritional advice too if that is part of your goal using Matt O’Neill’s Metabolic Jumpstart framework.

A personal training session commences after an initial consultation.  An initial consultation includes reviewing your goals, a postural assessment, developing your tailored program, fitness testing and then commencing on this program. All personal training sessions run for one hour.

The major benefit of personal training is that your trainer will keep you on track and motivated. You will also be educated along the way with safe yet effective ways to exercise.

There are no pre-requisites prior to attending your first session as it’s completely tailored to you.

GROUP PERSONAL TRAINING CLASSES

Group personal training runs in a class style format with a maximum of 8 participants.

These classes are a very effective for fat burning and cross training. You will work on your cardiovascular fitness, strength, speed, power, agility, balance, core strength and flexibility.  The level of intensity and difficulty set for each participant is based on whether you are a beginner, intermediate or more advanced.

There are many tools incorporated into this class, not only to challenge you but to give you variety and keep you motivated.  Some of these tools include boxing equipment, skipping ropes, cardiovascular machines, steps, agility ladders, hurdles, fit balls, medicine balls, dumbbells, barbells, resistance bands, kettle bells, battle ropes, slides, an outdoor training ground and a 20-metre pool (in Summer).
